This course delivers the knowledge and skills to care for companion animals in shelters, pet shops, day care, boarding facilities, under supervision.

COURSE STRUCTURE

  • Distance, study at your own pace. Theory and practical assessments.

  • Theory assessment task activities shall be able to be undertaken outside the
    workplace.

  • Practical assessment tasks shall be undertaken on the job at an animal shelter, boarding facility, or any other approved animal care facility.

  • The distance course delivery also allows students to continue to complete the course in the event of further COVID19 restrictions.

COURSE DURATION


12 months and 910 hours

The study load per week over a 52-week period will require on average approximately 12-14 study hours per week.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
 

  • You must be18 years of age AND are expected to have literacy and numeracy skills at Year 10 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2 OR

  • equivalent Certificate II OR similar qualification.

ACMSPE316           Provide general care of domestic dogs

ACMSPE317           Provide general care of domestic cats

 

This qualification does NOT require you to organize or be employed in an Animal Care workplace before you commence or enroll in our courses.
